Dr. Haro is a biologist with the USGS who specializes in American Eels. He worked closely with Dr. John Sobanik of Fuss & O’Neill Design Build to engineer and fabricate the new floating eelway exit. The device is something that Alex has always wanted to create but lacked the funding and time to do so. The marriage of our project’s need and funding with Alex’s desire to assist and provide testing facilities produced the world’s first floating eelway exit. Alex traveled to RI from his lab in northern MA to oversee the training of RIDEM’s biologists on the operation of the fish ladder and eelway and to ensure the entire eelway was performing as designed. The project partners would like to convey our sincerest thanks for a job well done to Alex and his team of experts at the Conte Lab in Turner Falls, MA.
