Here you see the nearly fully completed ladder. Its getting cold and the crew rally's to stay on schedule. All the concrete pouring was completed by the end of the work season including the installation of new raceway gates and walls on the north side of the river. In 2012 MAS will return to the site to finish the more cosmetic aspects of the project including staining the entire ladder, signage, river channel modifications and plantings. The future owner of the fish ladder, RIDEM, has already named the ladder in honor of Lawson M. Cary Jr. Lawson passed away before these Pawcatuck fish passage projects could be built. He was a long time Trout Unlimited member who dedicated countless hours to complete a watershed wide Stream Continuity Study that is the guiding document for restoring fish passage within the watershed. Special thanks to Lawson's wife and son for donating all the funds needed to construct his monument and to Comolli Granite of Westerly who is lovingly hand carving the monument.
