As concrete pouring begins, each truck that delivers concrete to the site must provide a sample. Here you see the flasks used to collect concrete samples that will be sent off to a lab for analysis. Each pour requires different strengths of concrete. If the lab analysis finds that the concrete "recipe" is off by even a little bit, that section of the ladder will have to be torn down and repoured at the contractor's expense. Everyone watches these tests very closely to ensure the fish ladder will last for hundreds of years.
