Bedrock Removal

Bedrock Removal

Photograph by: Chris Fox

Date of Photograph: July 19, 2011

In order to make room for the fishway an enormous amount of bedrock must be removed in between a 200 year old dam and a RIDOT road bridge. This is done through a combination of low impact but very noisey processes like predrilling, jackhammering, and brute excavator force. Dave exhibits the skills of a surgeon as he works the controls of the excavator to ensure nothing is damaged... including himself and the excavator.
