Paddlers Are Warned

Paddlers Are Warned

Photograph by: Chris Fox

Date of Photograph: July 10, 2010

This sign was placed just below Horseshoe Falls in Shannock to warn paddlers of WPWA's construction work downstream. Not depicted in this photo is a floating boom placed across the river downstream of the sign as a second warning to boaters. WPWA felt it prudent to warn paddlers to avoid this short section of the Pawcatuck while the dam removal is in progress. Warnings were also published in the local newspapers, and on the web through WPWA's River Conditions Map and List Serves.
